About IBEW Local 71
Proudly Powering Our Communities
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 71 is proud to represent over 3,300 skilled electrical workers throughout the Ohio Valley who keep our communities powered, connected and moving forward.
As part of the IBEW, Local 71 supports our members through collective bargaining, ongoing training and a strong culture of safety and professionalism.
Our Members
The members of IBEW Local 71 perform essential work across the utility and communications sectors. Our membership includes the following:
- Linemen and other Public Utility Employees who work on electrical transmission and distribution systems, substations and cable splicing, as well as traffic and street lighting.
- Tree Trimmers who help maintain safe, reliable right-of-way conditions around energized lines.
- Telecommunications, Broadcasting/Production and flagging — supporting the infrastructure that keeps people connected at home, at work and in emergency situations.

Our Outside Jurisdiction
The Local 71 outside jurisdiction covers 70 of Ohio’s 88 counties, eight counties in Kentucky, three counties in Indiana and two counties in West Virginia.
