Outside Linemen
Outside linemen build, maintain, and restore the overhead electrical systems that deliver power to homes, businesses and critical facilities. This work includes construction and maintenance on distribution and transmission systems, storm restoration, and emergency response. It is physically demanding, often performed outdoors in challenging conditions, and requires training, coordination and strict adherence to safety procedures.
Tree Trimming
Tree trimmer crews play a critical role in public safety and system reliability. By maintaining clearances around energized lines and equipment, they help reduce outages, prevent hazards and support safe access for line crews. This work requires specialized skills, proper equipment, and constant attention to worker and public safety.
Telecommunications
Local 71 members support the communications infrastructure that helps keep people connected at work, at home, and in the field. Telecommunications work can include installation, maintenance, and repair of communications systems and related electrical components. As technology evolves, this work remains essential for reliable service and day-to-day operations across our region.
Broadcasting
Broadcasting work supports the systems that deliver news, information, and emergency communications to the public. Local 71 members may work on the installation and maintenance of broadcasting-related infrastructure and electrical systems that help keep stations operating reliably. This work plays an important role in keeping communities informed, especially during severe weather and other critical events.
